- Real time ultrasound imaging allows the core muscles to be imaged by the clinician (our specially trained physiotherapists) in real time
- An ultrasound head is placed in your lower abdomen and sound waves are sent through the tissues
- As the sounds waves bounce back they create an image on the screen
- This allows the muscle contraction to be viewed as it happens - teaching you how to use your muscles more effectively
- When cued to contract various muscles, the image will show you which muscles are contracting and how well
- You will be provided with a printed picture of your muscles for your future reference
- Real time ultrasound can be used as an assessment tool or as a form of biofeedback - providing you with knowledge of performance in the early stages of motor learning
